Soul Searching in the Garden of the Morning Calm

Hello ladies!!!

As you may have observed I have nothing bad only good words for my favored country, South Korea.  My passion for their culture, dramas, music, fashion and crafts makes me wanna keep going back.

For today's post, I'll be sharing again my raves and thoughts on the last stop of our day-two tour, the Garden of the Morning Calm.

The garden was built by Professor Han Sang-kyung, whose dream was that it would become internationally famous and spread the awareness of Korean natural beauty. It is a beautiful garden spreading all around you, verdant and exploding with color, birds chirp in the trees, and every fragrant blossom shines during spring; foliage in the fall; and a light festival in the winter.

The arboretum contains 13 theme-based gardens. The Korea Garden features jar stands and greenery that create a comfortable backyard feel. The Wildflower Garden has a collection of Korean wildflowers, while the Bunjae Garden has plants formed into works of topiary art. Perhaps most popular is the Hagyeong Garden, notable for the observation tower from which you can view the entire arboretum. The grassy Morning Square at the center of the arboretum is a great place to sit and take in the view. In the Moonlight Garden (shaped like the Korean peninsula!), there is also a cute little church, and food and drinks are available in several locations.

The Garden of Morning Calm may be most beautiful from April to May when the flowers bloom, but it is also stunning in the autumn when the colorful deciduous leaves stand out against the elegant rocks and gardens which surround them.

From early December until the end of February the garden graces its plants and trees with more than one million colorful light bulbs as part of its annual light festival.

We arrived at the garden already late so we were not able to witness the lighting. We only explored few parts because it was really really cold and snowing. If you noticed on my post the weather really bothered us. Don't get me wrong, I love winter and snow but my body is not yet used to the freezing temperature lol.

Indeed all plants, trees and shrubs were intricately accentuated with pretty lights that every part just glistened like diamonds and gold.

Pictures don't honestly give justice to how mesmerizing this place is. Everyone... all tourists are really in awe and are all excited to take their memories.

I have been dreaming of setting my foot in this beautiful country and sceneries like these make me wonder if everything is for real hahaha.

And as I walk this vast garden with friends, I can't help but to take  advantage to think and find time to sort the things goin on inside my head. Yes, indeed this place is great for finding yourself... now I understand why they named it the garden of the morning calm.

The beauty is a picture of serenity and positivity. It makes you forget whatever baggage that is weighing inside of you and I'm so glad we added this in our itenerary.

It is snowy and really cold... my first time to see one. Please forgive the series of shameless pictures. My playfulness kicked in when I saw the pretty snow. My son could have been in cloud nine if he came with me.

So there goes our evening... I'm going back soon with family... save save save lol.  See you again lovely South Korea!

Haul: My BeautyMNL Experience

Good morning Sunday!!!

Just got back from the early Milo Marathon, Laoag Leg with my boy... Yes, today is indeed bright and cheery and I am in my best mood to share how my BeautyMNL shopping experience went.  Shopping is still laid back here in Ilocos, although we already have leading malls and beauty counters, offered brands are still very very limited.

For today, I just wanna share how thrilled I am with my very first purchase at BeautyMNL.  I actually saw it on my facebook feed and I got really really curious since they offer a wide range of cult favorites from Asian to top western brands.

The beauty site is so easy to navigate, you just have to sign up and voila you can browse and shop in an instant. I am a make up junkie and I really love checking everything so it is really a plus for me if a certain website has fast interface. I am glad I never encountered slow and intermittent connection!!! The experience was indeed fast and hassle free. After I placed my orders, which btw was paid via creditcard,  my order came before the promised working days which is 5-7 days.  I am in heaven!!!

Let us take a peek of my haul!!!

It was delivered at my preferred mailing address, my office, via LBC.

It was tucked in a sturdy ziplock type pouch which kept my orders safe from getting exposed from moist or other radicals that might spoil the items.

Indeed, a beauty destination suited very well for my taste.  I love Asian cosmetics, preferrably anything Korean and Japanese and the site has a lot of these stuff that I really went crazy hahaha.

As you can see, aside from the pouch, all items were wrapped securely in a bubble wrap. In this way, accidents that may arise (may be dropped) during the transition or delivery, all your purchases are still safe.

Tadaaaahhhh... I treated myself with Lioele Water Drop BB Cream and Biore UV Aqua Rich Watery BB 3d effect.

My haul came with an Origins voucher --  20-minute Feel Good Mini Facial (I am saving it for my next visit in the Metro) and a sample of Castile Soap.

I love bb creams and I will definitely visit the site again for my next purchase.

BTW,  BeautyMNL has also an in-house magazine, Bloom and review section, Beauty by You which helped me a lot when I wanna explore products I haven't tried.

New tips and helpful articles can be found in this section and may help you decide when having a hard time choosing which one to buy hehehe.

I love reading and this area is where I spent most before I check the items I am keeping my eye on.

And then lastly, Beauty by You is the section where honest reviews from customers are posted.

Just click the review tab on the home menu and you will be directed in this portion which is organized accordingly.

So, I hope guys this quick post of mine is helpful!

Have a blessed Sunday everyone!

Bon Petite France

Good morning!!!

I'm back with another tale from our next stop of our day two South Korea tour, the magnifique Petite France.

Petite France is a French culture village that was constructed in July 2008 at Gyeonggi Province, South Korea. It is actually a gallery that features 16 French-style buildings, exhibits and perfomances where you can experience the breath of Europe.

The little France in Korea is also a well-know location for top-rating Korean dramas like Secret Garden and the recently shown My Love From Another Star and some other variety shows so it became more popular over the years.

Upon paying for the tickets, maps are handed out and you can explore the exquisite village at your own convenience in a given period of time. The exteriors of the village are sooo "marveilleux" that tourists immediately snapped photos of everything. One location topped the most of pictures taken; the spot where My Love From Another Star, Do Min Joon confessed his love for Cheon Song-yi.

The exact place where Cheon Song-Yi flew to Do Min Joon's arms for their first kiss has a glass ledge where tourists can simulate the famous scene hahaha.

As soon as people cleared out the spot, I took the ledge and had a few snaps of myself  of course hihihi and proceeded to check out the rest of the place after.

We only looked into the highlights and a few attractions though since it was already gettin dark, really really chilly and some shops or buildings were closed.  Yep, it was already snowing in the place and the cold weather was too much to handle outdoor especially in the late afternoon.

Lol my first and I'm thrilled
Let me just do a quick run down of the things that could be seen inside Petite France coz there are a lot to explore.

BTW, if you are an art and antique enthusiast, I suggest you skip the guided tour where schedules are very strict and limited and go freelance so you can linger and appreciate every detail of the village.

We had some coffee and snacks at the cafe over the Petite Terrace to get warm and as much as we wanna sit at the outdoor cafe where we can get a picturesque view of the Gapyeong River, the freezing feeling was really really bothering me hahaha. My bad for not putting on some additional warm underclothing!!!

Lastly, French experience is not complete though without a picture at the replica of the famous Eiffel Tower.

I think the best time to visit the village is during spring or early autumn coz it can be quite chilly and dark on winter.  Some shops are closed during our tour and as I write this post I felt a bit of regret for immersing too much on the My Love from Another Star scene location that I took for granted some of the lovely places that I could  have explored. hahaha Oh wells, I'm planning to re-visit with family the soonest, so next time I'll have to check all the workshops and exhibits in the place.

Petite France is a haven for the enthusiasts of European culture and way of living.
My experience was surreal that for a moment I wondered how come places so lovely like this existed. Honestly, I envy the locals for having such a beautiful country which they can enjoy any moment they want.

Till my next post again ladies... aja aja fighting!!!
