Review: It's Skin Babyface Pore Powder

Good evening ladies!!!

How's your Friday?  I hope you're fighting fit!!!  Mine is really grueling (sigh).  The thought of this coming weekend keeps me going though!  Soju anyone lol?
For tonight's review, another product from a Korean cosmetics company, It's Skin...their Babyface Pore Powder.
Background
It's Skin is another trusted Korean cosmetics brand which aims to unravel the skin concerns of consumers.  The products were formulated by dermatologists from Seoul University.  It was established as an affiliate company of Hanbul Cosmetics in 2006 (you may refer to the English website for more information).

Product Description
This is part of the Babyface collection of It's Skin endorsed by the very urbane Nichkhun of 2PM (He is in fact one of my favorite Kpop artists at present after I've seen him in We Got Married Season 2).
previous ad for the Babyface line, photo from 2PM facebook  fan account
It's Skin Babyface Pore Powder is a luminous loose powder formulated to play down the appearance of pores and to control oil to give a long-lasting silky coverage.

Content: 5g
Price: PhP295.00 (sale price)
Availability: can be ordered online, Korean Cosmetics for less (Kkochipida)

Packaging is indeed paralleled with the line's concept.  It was sturdily tucked in a pretty tub with pearly baby-ish light pink cover designed with the Babyface idea.  Honestly, the design itself made me grab the item in an instant.  Again, presentation plays a big role, it draws your attention right?
Like any other loose powder, it also comes with an adorable fluffy washable puff.
I love how soft it felt on skin like something really luxurious (mind you this powder is within anybody's budget).
The powder is tightly sealed with hygienic sticker to keep the powder from tipping out.  This one sticks really well, it took me a while to remove it but it didn't leave any paper or "sticky" residue on the sifter cap though =).
The sifter cap is tightly placed on the tub...no worries of spilling the powder.  It got tiny holes too for controlled dispensing.

The bottom part of the tub (which is mainly in Korean) has some important details such as the date of manufacture which determines the expiration date.
The manufacture date is also stamped on the clear envelope that holds the tub.
The powder is pearly white (sorry for the poor pic). I have troubles with lighting especially at night time.  It is finely milled...really really pure comparable to the other posh brands.

Swatch-ed on my hand,  as you can see, it filled the the tiniest skin lines.
The powder is very very translucent while filling in the pores for a smooth silky finish.  My hand looks radiant after it was blended well while keeping the lines almost no longer visible.
It also feels satiny and extra weightless like nothing is on top of the bb or liquid foundie plus it is unscented.
A look on how supple it is up close.  The veins are somewhat concealed too right?
Oil control is very much impressive.  To those who have been visiting this site, you know how greasy my skin can get and I am satisfied at how the product lessened the oiliness.  I had to blot my face for a couple of times (normally like every 2 hours but with this I do it every 3-4 hours).

Frozen Blossoms' thoughts:
This has been the very first product I have tried from It's Skin.  And as most say, first experience is always vital.  I will definitely try other variant from It's Skin.

To sum it up...i love this because
  • it is well milled
  • it feels velvety on skin
  • it minimizes the visibility of pores
  • it feels light
  • it is translucent
  • it is very affordable
  • it is unscented - very ideal for sensitive skin
  • it has good oil control - nice for troubled skin too
  • soft washable puff
  • sturdy packaging
  • handy
  • sifter is tightly placed
  • it didn't cake my bb
  • it didn't break me out (no additional hehehe)
Dislikes
  • it is not sold locally but you can pre-order it online though
That's it for tonight...hubby will be gone for a couple of days for his Social Summit.  I'll be missing him.

Nighty ladies...mwah!!!

Review: The FaceShop Face It HD Perfect BB SPF30 PA++

Hello Saturday!!!

Funny how extremely opposite my hubby and I are.  He is always inclined with his scholarly writings every night, the stuff I am least interested but surely something I am most proud of (isn't it ironic?), while I always fill my time with HALLYU culture.  So on this another ordinary night while we do our own stuff hehehe,  I'd like to share another bb cream from one of my favorite brands, TheFaceShop... their Face It HD Perfect BB SPF30, PA++.
Product Overview
This BB is part of the Face it line which is formulated for an optimum performance  to give an unflawed look.  Its HD (high definition) Skin Complex promises to certainly conceal imperfections and fills in aging signs like fine lines and wrinkles for an all day smooth and clear skin.

Active Ingredient
It contains baby green sprout extract which soothes the troubled skin while keeping it moisturized and even always.

Available shades
  • 01 Light Beige
  • 02 Natural Beige
Content -  Retailed in two sizes:  20ml and 40ml but the kit contains the 25ml / 0.84 Fl. Oz in their old packaging.
The Kit contains two different BB creams which are (both 25ml):
  1. Face It Aqua Tinted BB SPF20 PA++ (click the link for review)
  2. Face It Aqua HD Perfect BB SPF30 PA++
Price  - PhP500.00 (price may vary)

Availability -  Retail sizes in their new packaging are available at all the TheFaceShop branches and online sellers but I'm not really sure if the Face It BB Special Kit is still on hand though.  I actually got it from the Red Dot during the launching of their Polka Dot line.
The consistency of the cream is creamier than the Face It Aqua Tinted BB SPF20 PA++ but it feels exactly velvety as the the other variant.  Though it is thick, blending is never troublesome.  I love how it smoothly glides unto skin leaving it  matte and moisturized without the heavy and suffocating feeling.
The tone 01 is a bit pale which is most ideal for fair skinned ladies.  I thought it would look ghastly white on me but then it blends agreeably hehehe.
My skin have been troubled and the full coverage is just what I needed.  This BB offers medium to full coverage which is favorable to ladies who got skin type as mine.  The blended swatch below shows how natural it looks on my hand...almost not there.  It gives the illusion of a light foundation almost-barely-there foundie =).
The scent is the same as the Face It Aqua Tinted BB SPF20 PA++,  fresh...after shower whiff.
Oil control is pretty decent since my skin is innately oily.  I guess it's because of the SPF =).  I always keep a face paper with me so I guess I can deal with it hehehe, good thing it does not come off though when I wipe my face with the film.

Frozen Blossom's thoughts:
Since I don't possess the clearest skin,  I always try to conceal my imperfections through BB creams.  I am simply glad these stuff are out at the market to help ladies who are battling skin troubles like me.

I love that...
  • it conceals my blemishes nicely (except the bumps)
  • it smell good
  • it stays all day (clean the face thoroughly before bedtime though)
  • it doesn't break me out (atleast no additional)
  • it doesn't irritate my skin or the present pimps
  • it lessens the redness of the raw pimps
  • it has whitening factor
  • it has SPF 30 with PA++
  • it is locally available
Prolly' the only thing I dislike would be the oil control =( and the difficulty of removing it.

Gotta doze off ladies. Nyt nyt.

Lactoferrin is naturally produced by the body as part of its immune mechanism. The highest concentration can be found in mother’s first milk or colostrum. Lactoferrin has anti-bacterial, anti-viral, anti-allergic and even anti-cancer properties. Increasing the amount of Lactoferrin in your diet targets the causes of acne from the inside: no bacteria, no virus, no allergies. You only get smooth, baby soft skin.

LinumLife is extracted from flax, a plant rich in lignans. When ingested, LinumLife is converted into our body’s own lignans which controls the level of the male hormone testosterone. Lower levels of testosterone mean less sebum or oil on the skin surface.

Zinc, when taken orally, increases the body’s production of collagen, boosts the immune system and controls the levels of male hormones. Zinc helps repair broken skin, controls premature aging, prevents breakouts and lessens oil-production.

Review: TheFaceShop Face It Extreme Mascara EX Dual Perfect

Hello Sunday!!!

Most Asians are innately born with short and thin eye lashes, in fact I am one of those ladies who share the same concern.  So, before I get a few 'z's,  I'll share my must have from TheFaceShop...the Face It Extreme Mascara EX Dual Perfect.
This travel size mascara is a part of the Power Perfection Make Up Kit which I purchased during the Red Dot event here in Ilocos.
photo from Google
To give you an overview, the kit includes travel sizes from the line which are:
Face It Extreme Mascara EX Dual Perfect - 4.5 g
Face It White Lip and Eye Make Up Remover Waterproof - 20 ml
Face It All About Lipstick PK103 - 1.5g

Price:  PhP500.00 (the kit's price may vary)
The retail size of this mascara is 5g * 5.5g.  It actually contains a two step formula...the Perfecting Primer and the Perfecting Volumer but I will just be musing on the volumer alone since the travel size does not include the primer. =)

The formula is sort of wet and thick.  I like my mascara this way since I can fully coat my extremely almost none eye lashes lol.  On one hand, I find difficulty with mascaras in dry formula coz I find no significant improvement with my lashes no matter how many coats I apply.  On the second hand, with wet formulas a lot of extra precaution is needed as you wait it dry to avoid smudging and messing up the upper and lower lids when you accidentally bat your lashes...it dries pretty quick though. You'll just have to stand it for like few seconds =).

The staying power is much much adored.  I don't get trouble retouching / re-applying within the day.  It doesn't smudge (once dried) either, just don't rub the eyes of course.

Finally,  it does not irritate my eyes.  Some mascaras make them really itchy and teary.
The wand is regularly shaped like any other spooler which is super easy to work with.  I have those mascaras with enormous applicator and honestly I get a lot of trouble working with it because it keeps on touching my eye lids.  This tiny applicator can reach the corners and  the lower lashes without getting in contact with my skin. =)
Below is a picture of my bare eye.  As you can see, I have a super thin and really short eye lashes hehehe (please don't mind the eye brow that's another dilemma aigoo).
The picture below shows how the Extreme Mascara improved the length and the volume in just one coat.  The lower lashes were not made as I do not really apply my mascara there (makes my eye really big that's why I usually skip it).
wait for it to dry a bit - to avoid messin  (like the corners, my hands are really shaky aigoo)
The last picture shows the eye lashes in double coating.  I think two much of this mascara will make it clumpy though.  If you want more volume, you can just brush to untangle them.
Frozen Blossoms' thoughts:
It has always been difficult to apply falsies.  I have attempted but failed many times hahaha.  I don't have the luxury of going to salons for eyelash extensions for reasons of time and costs, so I always rely on mascaras alone.

I love this because:
  • it is easy to apply
  • it improves the length and volume of my eyelashes
  • it dries up pretty quick
  • staying power is much appreciated - the color does not fall on my lower lids within the whole day
  • it does not irritate my eyes
  • it is sold locally
The thing I dislike would be:
  • don't flutter the lashes while it is still wet or you'll end up smudging your eye make up
  • it can get clumpy when too much is applied
So I guess that's it for today. have a happy weekend =).

Swatches / Review: Lancome Color Design Sensational Effects Eye Shadow

Good evening ladies!!!

It's been a while since the last time I posted my musings on make ups right?  My nights have been relatively occupied by We Got Married Season 2 marathon, specifically my favorite couple, Nichkhun of 2PM and Victoria of FX who were widely known as the KHUNTORIA couple.  So tonight, before I slumber, I just want to share my swatches and a brief review of my favorite Lancome Color Design Sensational Effects Eye Shadow.
This has been sitting on my stash for quite some time along with a set given by my in-laws from California (Thank you Tita Cora).  Honestly, apart from my enthusiasm for Korean cosmetics, I have quite handful of good western brands hiding in my dresser (hehehe mostly gifts from overseas coz I can't really afford them).
Lancome's signature packaging comes in sleek sophisticated black compact with gold details.  I find it very hign end-ish =).
My apologies for the worn out compact, this one got stocked in my chaotic make up bag (ommo so embarrassing).
Although this blog is dedicated to my KPOP / HALLYU addiction,  I post anything beauty related in between.  Lancome has been a favorite brand of mine even before discovering the more affordable Asian cosmetics.  Though, price might be a little impractical here in the Philippines, I think it is a good investment too since the brand offers excellent quality products.

This eye shadow is a part of Lancome Color Design collection. It is a mini palette that contains seven shades in earth-y neutral tones ranging from shimmery to matte variants.  I am a fan of not too daring eye shadows.  I find my eyes kinda enormous, that's why I always opt to keep it laid back and very casual.  This palette contains subtle choices ideal for both day and night time.

The eye shadow feels satiny on eye lids.  It doesn't cake on me despite how oily my lids can get.  Though it is the powder type,  it blends well on skin.  I am no make up pro and my eye make up skill is 3 (university standard grading threshold) but I find it proper on my huge eyes hahaha... satisfied enough to perk it up.
Below are my labeled swatches for your appreciation.  This palette contains 7 shades as previously stated above which are:
  1. Honeymoon (sheen)
  2. Drape (sheen)
  3. Gaze (shimmer)
  4. Pose (metallic)
  5. Mochaccino (matte)
  6. Lezard (matte)
  7. Statusque (intense)
The Pose shade is the most pigmented among the seven shades.
Frozen Blossoms' thoughts:
This eye shadow palette will be adored by ladies who like warm and subtle shades.  You can play a lot with it ranging from barely there eye make up style to smoky eye types.  The sheen shades (honeymoon and drape) and shimmer (daze) can be used as highlighters while matte colors can be used to soften eye liners or tint the eyebrows...indeed very versatile.
The only thing I'd prolly' dislike is the fact that it is really expensive in my country and it is not usually sold individually.

So that's it...good night!!!
